Policy Statement on Core Labour Requirements by Achie and Awo Yaa Company Limited, in Accordance with FSC Guidelines:
Achie and Awo Yaa Company Limited is committed to upholding the fundamental labor requirements outlined by the FSC throughout our operations. This policy is embraced, implemented, and regularly reviewed to ensure ongoing compliance and a progressive approach toward a better future.
7.2. CHILD LABOUR
We do not employ individuals under the age of 18.
Our organization refrains from involving individuals aged 13 to 15 in light work.
Individuals under 18 are not engaged in hazardous or strenuous tasks except for training purposes.
There is a strict prohibition against any form of forced or compulsory labor.
We unequivocally prohibit the most severe forms of child labor.
7.3. FORCED LABOUR
Our organization does not practice any form of forced or compulsory labor.
Employment relationships are entirely voluntary and established on mutual consent, devoid of physical or sexual coercion, bonded labor, wage withholding, employment fee payment, or imposing deposits for employment commencement. There are no restrictions on mobility or retention of personal identification documents, and threats of denunciation to authorities are absent.
7.4. DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT AND OCCUPATION
Our organization maintains a discrimination-free environment in both employment and occupational practices.
7.5. FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION AND THE RIGHT TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
We fully respect the freedom of association and the effective right to collective bargaining.
Employees are encouraged to join workers’ organizations of their choice.
Our organization upholds the autonomy of workers’ organizations to establish their constitutions and rules.
Workers are free to participate in lawful activities related to forming, joining, or supporting workers’ organizations without facing discrimination or repercussions.
Negotiations are conducted in good faith with the Timber And Woodworkers Union of TUC (Ghana), a legally established union, striving to reach a collective bargaining agreement.
The Collective Agreement signed with the union is implemented diligently by our organization.
